We are an environmental advocacy organization founded in 1990 to use the power of law and science to protect Israel's environment, and to safeguard all Israelis from environmental hazards in the places where they live, work and play. Our public interest lawsuits have improved air quality and drinking water safety, blocked commercial building on public beaches, and cleaned up polluted rivers. In our environmental justice program, we have worked with thousands of community activists seeking relief for their communities from noise, asbestos pollution and loss of green public spaces.
We have authored and advanced most of Israel's environmental laws over the last 20 years, currently focusing on a Climate Law for Israel, shortly to go before the Knesset. It is a comprehensive bill that sets targets for GHG reduction and provides a framework for managing, budgeting and implementing climate-crisis adaption measures at national and local levels.
