The Crisis & Opportunity

Northern Israel devastated (150K displaced). Haifa rising: Technion hub, 560K jobs.

BUT olim youth, hesder bochurim need Torah anchor. Or Vishua fills the gap.

 

 

Our Impact

  • 130 students: Hesder (IDF combat), olim (France/US), mechina, avrech families.

  • 100% IDF service (Gaza/Lebanon and other Reserves, many in combat, some do officer track).

  • 95% stay in Israel: Rabbis, tech dads (Zakaria: Oleh Hadash from LA; tank soldier; family man).

 

Zakaria's Story: LA arrival, no Hebrew; tech job, 100s Gaza days, 2 kids in ganim. The Yeshiva gave him Israeli identity.

 

Daniel (Casablanca): Software engineer, did Reserves in Gaza. 3 kids, serves as a mentor in the yeshiva.

RAV ELIAHU R. ZINI SHLIT"A

Beyond his teachings and books, the Rabbi, Dr. Eliahu Rachamim Zini who is in charge of the Or Vishua Yeshiva, focuses persistently on how to live a fulfilling and genuinely Jewish lifestyle once in Israel. He was ordained and has served as the Technion’s Chief Rabbi for more than 30 years and as Senior lecturer in the Mathematics department of the University.

The Rabbi’s family descends directly from the disciple of one of the most prominent Decision Makers among Jewish halachic authorities, Rabbi Itshak Elfassi – better known by his name’s initial letters, the ”Rif” . His family is the living story of an uninterrupted succession of Rabbis which dates back a thousand years. Rabbi Eliahu's grandfather was the hevruta of Baba Sali, Rabbi Israel Abuhatsira, Z"L.

His ancestors have gone from Spain to Morocco, Algeria and France, then Israel. The Rabbi made hia Aliyah from France in 1970 and currently teaches thousands of students.
